Custom Cutting Boards and Grill Kashering: Behind the Scenes with Robi Jalnos and Dr. Alan Dinesman

As we gear up for the Texas Kosher BBQ Championship, we wanted to share a special behind-the-scenes look at the preparations with Robi Jalnos, Chairman of the event, and Dr. Alan Dinesman, the mastermind behind the custom cutting boards for this year’s teams. In this video, Robi and Dr. Dinesman discuss the intricate craftsmanship that went into creating the boards and why they’re such a special addition for the competitors.

But that’s not all—they also dive into the essential process of kashering grills, ensuring everything is up to kosher standards before the competition. For teams without their own smokers, we’ve even got grills from last year that have been cleaned and prepared, so every participant has what they need to compete. Check out the video below to learn more about the preparations and what it means to maintain a kosher BBQ event!

Sukkot and Keeping BBQ Kosher: Interview with Rabbi Hodson

In celebration of Sukkot, we sat down with Rabbi Jeffrey Hodson of Agudas Achim to talk about the kosher guidelines we follow at the Texas Kosher BBQ Championship. Rabbi Hodson also explains the significance of kashering BBQ pits and how we balance keeping kosher with the challenges of preparing food during Shabbat, especially when the cooking starts after sundown and must be ready to serve the next morning.
